The Carleton Campus Conservative executive is tasked with making sure that the club runs effectively and smoothly, and is comprised of the president and five Directors at Large, each of whom is given a portfolio. The president may also designate two additional Directors at Large, including a First-Year Representative. In this double-header year, the CCC executive was crucial in rallying the Carleton base and helping the Conservative Party of Canada attain its first majority since the Progressive Conservative/Canadian Alliance merger.
Jeff Pierce (President) is the current President of the Carleton Campus Conservatives and is a 4th year Political Science student at Carleton University.
Growing up in Whitby, Ontario, Jeff has been drawn to politics from an early age. Crediting a politically informed household, Jeff continued his political life by enrolling at York university for a double major in Political science and Communications.
In the summer of his second year, Jeff was accepted for an internship with the Conservative party of Canada in Ottawa Ontario.
With in a month of moving to Ottawa, Jeff would transfer to Carleton University where he hoped to continue his involvement in federal politics.
Currently working for MP Randy Hoback (Prince Albert, SK), Jeff is excited for the future and is looking forward to the challenge of the Ontario Provincial Elections.
Tristan McLaughlin (Director of Communications) – A third-year Political Science Student, also entering his third year with the Carleton Conservatives, McLaughlin is committed to delivering on the communication needed to rally the troops this fall, and beyond.
Currently, Tristan is an Administrative Assistant for the Hon. Tony Clement, Member of Parliament and President of the Treasury Board.
Chris Tomalty (Director of Finance) is a second-year student studying Public Affairs and Policy Management with a Specialization in International Studies at the Kroeger College of Public Affairs at Carleton University. Formerly the Director of Information Technology and First-Year Representative in the 2010-2011 school year, Tomalty has been active with the Campus Conservatives and the Conservative Party, volunteering in the office of MP Nina Grewal (Fleetwood-Port Kells, BC) and on the Alicia Gordon campaign in his home of Kingston and the Islands.
Chris hopes to bring his experience in IT, design, and politics to the table while working with the conservative youth movement. After working for Minister Oda this summer, he now works for MP Nina Grewal.
Patrick Osland (Director of Membership) is a 3rd-year Political Science student, born and raised in Ottawa. He has worked at city hall for the past two years and most recently worked with the Elie Salibi campaign for the Conservative Party in Ottawa South. Patrick is also the Youth Chair for the Ottawa South EDA – Delegate at the 2011 Progressive Conservative convention. With an abiding love for the likes of economist Milton Friedman, Patrick is always ready to defend economic liberalism and Conservative policy.
Ryan Husk (First Year Rep) Is a First year Global politics major and this years first year representative for the carleton conservatives. He has worked on the Galipeau 2011 federal campaign and on the Macdonald 2011 provincial campaign . Ryan has held a position on the Ottawa-Orleans conservative executive board of directors. To this day, Ryan works as a corresponding strategist for the Ottawa-Orleans riding.
Ryan’s current goal is to get first year conservative students around campus involved, and promote club activites and involvement in and around campus. Ryan also works for the Minister of Defence, Peter MacKay.
